Fate has such a wicked sense of humor. I was just going to head back over to the "YaBB SE 1.5.0 is out!" thread to rave about the new Bookmarks feature in 1.5, which i've found extremely handy.. when suddenly I discovered that I could no longer navigate using the bookmarks!

Whenever I click a bookmark, or change it with the arrow keys, the page automatically refreshes faster than i can move my mouse to and click on the 'go' button. Naturally, when the page refreshes, it goes to the top bookmark on the list. The end result is that I cannot use any of my bookmarks except the first one in the list. This only started about 1.5 minutes ago, it was working fine 2 minutes ago!

The mod must be set to automaticly go to the bookmark selected wich could pose a problem to those that like to use the arrow keys. But it's not really a bug. Maybe that feature should be changed so that you either have to hit enter or click go :). If that's possible... I don't know :(

P.S. mine is doing that too.

Actually, I only tried using the arrow keys after the problem began to occur. Using the arrow keys seems like a waste of time in most circumstances, it was only a troubleshooting step. As I explained in my previous post, clicking has the same results. And this is most definitely a bug -- its not 'by design' if a) it interrupts the primary functionality of the feature and b) it has been working as desired since this board was upgraded to 1.5 and then suddenly failed to operate as desired tonight at 6:58 PM MST (GMT -7).

OK, here's some new information. Not sure why I didn't notice this earlier.

Whats happening is, its not just refreshing the page its actually going to the first bookmark in my list. The problem is that it goes there the moment I click (yes, click) on ANY bookmark in the list. It doesn't wait for me to click Go (which rather defeats the purpose of having a Go button), it simply goes directly to the first link the moment I click any link.

*sigh*

Well alrighty then :P. Mines not doing that, I can click on any of them and they work right.

BTW is this a beta feature or is it in the 1.5.0 release? And if not can it be put in the 1.5.1 release cause that's a COOL feature!

Wait.... is this with the 1.5.0 mod that Joseph Fung made, or is this some builtin feature? (or do you mean this board?)

It seems like this is a bug in a beta mod, in which case you should tell the author.

If I'm mistaken... I'm sorry, I haven't gotten much sleep of late.

You know, I have to apologize, I've only seen this feature on this board (yabbse.org/community) and I assumed that it was a built-in feature of 1.5, but the way everyone is responding, it sounds like maybe its just a mod thats been installed  ???

At any rate, yes, it should definitely be included in 1.5.1 if its not part of 1.5 because its one of the coolest little features I've seen yet! I would of course prefer to see it working properly first. ;) If there's any more info I can provide to help someone figure this out, let me know. Of course if its not an official/built-in feature, then I don't know who this question should be addressed to..

It's Joseph's mod:

http://www.yabbse.org/community/index.php?board=158;action=display;threadid=16771

But this isn't actually a 1.5.0 board! (There was a thread explaining why not somewhere, but it was all to do with it being heavily modded and having most of the 1.5.0 functionality anyway.)

I'm curious, is this problem happening on your board, or here at yabbse.org?

That's really strange that it's jumping to the first item on the list.  It's supposed to jump to the item you select.  It's using an onchange handler.

And the Go button is in place if you want to go to the first item on the list :P because that doesn't register as a change.

If this is on your board, you should be able to correct this by simply removing the onchange handler from the <select> field.  This is created in the yyBookmarks function in Subs.php

And to confirm what peter said, it's a mod I made - it's currently a BETA mod, and will not be part of the 1.5 core install.

It's working here for me, Joseph! Straight to the correct bookmark (*not* the first in the list) in both Mozilla and IE. Haven't installed it in my own forum (yet!), so can't comment on that.

Strangely enough, the problem resolved itself shortly after my last post. Go figure.

Anyway, to answer your questions, it actually was happening right here on this board (yabbse.org/community in case there's any confusion). I haven't had time to install 1.5 on my board yet (which is un-modded so I'm definitely going to be installing it soon. I prefer to keep that one pretty clean).

Anyway, as I mentioned I LOVE this feature and hope very much that it will be included in a 1.5.x update.

Though I guess I'm not really too fond of the onchange feature. Perhaps the mysterious error from earlier has just left a sour taste in my mouth, so to speak.

How about this, just for you, when I finally release the mod, I'll include a little flag for you to turn off the onchange feature ok?
