[Done 1.5.1 Final] Hidden Votes 1.0.0

This mod will allow a poll owner to hide the current totals in a poll from other users.

This is developed for moderator elections on a board so we can reveal the results after the voting period is over.

It is in YaBBPak format from my package server:

http://www.jack.org.uk/yabbse-packages/

Updated to support YaBBSE 1.5.1

Version 1.0.0 is now considered stable. It is identical (apart from version number) to version 0.9.2 and the version in the Supermod.

The Version for 1.4.1 should now be considered stable

That is exactly what I was looking for!  ;D  Only thing is that I've never installed a mod pak... can someone explain the process in relatively plain English?  ???

Simple :)

Goto 'YabbPak' Center in the Admin Page.

Select Download, and put in a name for my server 'Jack' is fine' and put 'http://www.jack.org.uk/yabbse-packages/' for the URL.

When you get the list of servers back, browse mine, and download the Hidden Votes mod.

Then go back to the yabbpak center and select 'Browse'.

'HiddenVote.mod.yp' sould be in the list of modification packages. Click on the corresponding 'Apply Package' link and follow the instructions. Make sure you read everything, and do a test install (& make sure that looks OK) before actually applying the mod.

I'm not in a big hurry... the polls are supposed to go on my site a week from tomorrow, so I'll wait until this weekend to try it. I will let you know too how it went, and if I need any assistance. Thank you!  :D

ok... I got it downloaded, but I can't apply it. I spoke to my server who is not php challanged like I am, and this is what he said, "The code is incomplete.

1.) The $db_prefix and $db_name are both yabbse. But the variables are not being populated.

2.) The syntax for
$db_prefix."pools is wrong in must be $db_prefix."_pools

3.) I don't know if apache has alter authority on databases so if they want this updated by script they need to make it handle commandline variables. Check with them there may be some way to run this through the system. "

Greek to me, but hopefully you'll understand.  ;)

Hmm.

How are you appling that? The modification script should be automatically executed by the YaBB paage manager, and that provides the values for the db prefix variables etc. The modification script will not run stand-alone.

ok... well, I have it installed. It shows as installed. But I can't figure out how to actually access the mod to set the settings for the polls. I had thought it would show up in my Installed Mods Settings and Options, but there's nothing new there.   :-[

No, if it is installed properly, then there will be an extra check-box below all the options when you edit or create a new poll.

(YaBB pakage manager seems to show things as installed even if they haven't, so don't trust that list - if the install went all the way through without any errors, then it should be OK.)

You have to install it through YaBB Pack Center. This is a, lets be honest, god-awful installer as far as the user interface is concerned.

WHen it's unpacked the archive, it will ask if you want to read the text file, click to do so.
It will then ask if you want to run the php script. Again, let it run.  If this produces any errors, let me know. If this has succesfully run previously, then it will complain about a exsisting column in the polls table - this is nothing to worry about.

Then it will ask to apply the mod file. Do a test run of that to make sure there are no errors. Then do the real thing.

I get as far as the php script needing to run, and when I click on run, this is the message I get.

Script output:
An Error Has Occurred!

2: Failed opening 'Packages/modification.php' for inclusion (include_path=':/usr/lib/php:/usr/lib/php/pear:/home/httpd/html/icbobcats')
(/home/httpd/html/divadish/community/Sources/Packages.php ln 451)

Ah, right .. that looks like your PHP service isn't configured as standard and the PHP interpreter cannot find my modification script at all :(

Try creating a folder '/home/httpd/html/icbobcats/Packages'.

then copy the file Packages/modification.php from your yabbse folder into there. Then try installing the mod again.

If this works, then you will have to delete the modification.php file you copied by hand.

Good luck!
