At the moment i have basic yabba board on my forum but will be getting php any day now. The thing that is putting me of from Yabse and going with that even though i like the board is that my members cannot choose to hide their online status. Some members prefer to do this. So instead of it listing all the members on board cannot they just use the number and not their names?. If i cannot get these i will have to opt for another php.

Well, ask Jeff and Joseph how they did it. They never appear on the boardindex active memberlist either, whilst they are online.

I know how I did it.

Add a column to the members table, 'hideonline'.

Put this into Profile.php so that the member can tick it on or off.

In Subs.php under ClickLog or WriteLog, can't remember which right now, grab the value of this variable through an SQL statement. If it's true then don't add the click to the clicklog, if not then proceed as normal.

You'll find that the member's clicks aren't logged anymore, so they appear to be offline.

Just a thought... but wouldn't it be better to test for 'hideonline' where ever you are about to display any type of online status?  This way you don't disable the click logging and you still get accurate stats and reports.

I host a fan club board with 350+ members. and our "celebrity" would like to read/post to the board occasionally. The "hide myself" mod would resolve one of our issues, but I also need something that would make it impossible for anyone (except admin) to send him IM's.  Is there a way to hide the IM icon for a particular member?
