I looked and did a search, couldn't find a link. Post the link if you can. If not... I am going ahead and push forward on this mod. I almost have it done on my test server.

Working on a registration approval system. Basically it requires people to become approved before they can post.

I like the idea about the Registration MOD, but in a way, it is not anything like what I want.....

I am going to attempt to write my own MOD to this, since nobody seems to be writing one that is anything close to what I want.

User-Side User Activation

Ok, there is a field in the Members table called Activate.  That field is populated defaultly with a 1 so that it is activated.  This is so because we don't want to have a ton of users that are already on the board to have to activate their account even though they have used the board before.

During the login it checks to determine what the value of that field is, if it is a 0 it says that you can't login.

I have changed the Registration subs to send an email to the user at the end of Registration saying that they have to Activate their account by going to a web page, being a sub-routine of the YaBBSE board and type in their username.  When they activate their account, the Activated field for their username gets changed to a 1 so that it will allow for a login.

This is similar to the registration systems in vBulletin.  Similar, but not totally exactly the same.

This MOD is still being developed.  It is only about 55% complete.

I am confused.  What does this gain you?  All you have really done is a different version of the "Email Random Password to New Member Upon Registration?" option in the "Forum Preferences and Settings" section.

Current way: A person signs up, they get an email with a temp password, they use it to log in and change their password.

Your way: A person signs up, they get an email, they click a link, they enter their username to verify that they are them.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not bagging on you or your mod.  There is more than one right way to do something.  Maybe I'm missing something, but it seems nothing more than a way to verify that their email address is valid.

If you ever saw a vBulletin board, you will know what I mean.

This is what I wanted for YaBBSE, so I made it.

People want a user activation MOD.
