As the title says... I upgraded my fairly large (i guess) board.
(2,800 users, 200,000 odd posts... now has 130 meg dbase)

Tempted by promises of speed + funky additions + a future.. ;)

I installed a test board while my main board was up and it was very very very fast.

The Upgrade went smoothly :)

but unfortunately...

Post install the board is now sluggish. I occasionally see brilliant bursts of speed from it, but most of the time its just plain slow.

I ran the 'optimize' script i found around here, and its improved things when not loading the main index.

I've seen posts about the index being slow and a fix... but its an (as yet) unsupported mod... right?



The board is usable UK day time, and totally unusable UK evening time - which coincides with US day time...

For what it's worth: you have my support  ;D

(trust me, it has worked for many people with huge boards, it should work for yours as well)

ok well.. i have 1.4.1, snagged the latest boardmod.

i made a '1.4.1' directory in board and stuck the mod file in there. then i downloaded my current board files. (which only have the 'back to post' mod) and boardmod gave 2 errors. (steps 2+8 i think).

will look deeper 2nite.

Ok so i got restless at work ;)

I downloaded my board files here and ran boardmod with the new zip.

I get 3 errors which are 'string not found' on steps 2, 3 and 10.

 2 is movethread.php
 3 is poll.php
10 is boardindex.php

looking at the files i can see the relevant chunks of code appear to be there.  ???

using modfile SpeedUpBoardIndex1_4_1.mod
and i'm using boardmod v2.5.1

that's strange, those files shouldn't have been modified by the 'back to post' mod. Try using clean install files and apply both mods to it. If that doesn't work, I guess it has to be done manually  :-\
