You must have missed something on the install. The invert should work fine on both inbox and outbox.

It should use this code:

Still got the same problem, since there are 3 lines like that in instantmessage.php....

i got the lower black grey, but the right black is still black

Well it must be on your verison only because I don't set the bgcolor to C0C0C0 anywhere.
