Minimum files to convert

I am going to convert my y1g board to an se board... the y1g is on a different server, an old server.  Will the converter be okay with that? Or do I have to get the data from the old server onto the new server?  If I have to move the data, what is the minimum I have to move?  This quote:

"Note: If you are suffering basedir restrictions in your PHP install, you may need to copy your Y1G data into a new subdirectory in your YaBB SE directory before you can successfully run the conversion."

suggests I only need the data.. what directories would that be in?  ../members or ../messages or any others? Or should I do the whole board? If I do the whole board, does it actually have to work, or can I copy the files, not caring if the board itself works, and just do the conversion?

Thanks, I'm looking for the smallest amount of work possible here.

The Gold data must be on the same server where the SE board is. So you have to move the y1g data to the new server.

must the "new" server support cgi? because my sp1 is on a asp-cgi server and de SE is on a php-mysql only server....
