Calendar regions

I may in the future attempt this mod myself, but I'm more of a code hacker so the odds of it making its way into an official "mod" once it was done are slim (considering how hacked apart the code for my board is to begin with)..

The basic jist of this idea is this:  I run a national board that I'm in need of an event calendar for.  The problem is, that people on the west coast won't need to see events for people on the east coast.  Is there any way to segregate the calendar down, make it have multiple categories?  This would be useful for other things besides regional events, I just present this to you as an example.
