Topic Solved Mod for YaBB SE 1.5.2

Version 1.1

This mod allows the topic starter, admins, global mods and board moderators to set a thread as 'solved'. This will force YaBB SE to display a previously chosen icon for the solved thread in the message index, instead of the usual thread icon.

This will provide a visual indication for members browsing the message index of which questions have been answered, or which topics have been 'solved'.

On our forum we have a number of question/answer boards and this mod has been very useful.

Also works in 1.5.1.

Features

  • Admin-selectable topic solved icon via the mod settings page.

  • Topics can also be un-solved.

  • Option in mod settings to lock topic when solved, will unlock when unsolved.

    Compatibility

    Should be no conflicts. Let me know if you encounter one and i'll write a patch.

    History

    1.1 - The solve button now appears at the bottom left corner of the message display, instead of in every message.
    1.05 - Add the ability to lock/unlock threads automatically when topic solved/unsolved
    1.0 - Initial release (straight conversion from my YaBB SP version, which was never released)

    Download

    Download the mod here.

    Installation

  • Upload topicsolved_dbmod.php to your root YaBB SE directory and run it in your browser (ie www.mysite.com\yabbse\topicsolved_dbmod.php). This will make a new field in your topics table, and add three fields to your settings table.
  • Upload the three image files to your YaBBse\YaBBImages directory.
  • Use boardmod to install topic_solved_151.mod. topic_solved_15.mod and topic_solved_141.mod can be used if you have earlier versions of YaBB SE. Upload modified files to your server.

    If you are upgrading then you will have to uninstall the old version with board mod, then install the new version. Re-run topicsolved_dbmod.php to install database updates, I have modded it so that it will not create duplicate variables in your settings table. :-*

    topic_solved_15.mod also works with 1.5.2.

    Useage

    Click on the 'solve' icon (next to modify message) to set a thread as 'solved'. You can now unsolve the thread if required by clicking on the 'unsolve' icon.

    Turn the mod on/off and set the topic solved icon via the mod settings page. An initial icon is included (cool2.gif). Note that the file extension for your topic solved icon is not required, and the icon link is relative to your YaBBImages directory.

    Comments

Nice mod.  Worked instantly on my testboard.

One question : shouldn't the topic also be closed when solved ?!  And opened when unsolved ?!

When that is the case, and you make it, I will go on using it on my real board.

For now, I'm not sure............

Updated to version 1.1 for YaBB SE 1.5.

This mod is now final - i won't be doing further work on it  ;)

OK...  It works with 1.5.4, but...

I want to have the Solve images like in this Forum.  The bigger Images like Reply, Print, and Send Topic.

Any suggestion?

Something perhaps to add in the next release of this mod.... if the Forum is currently set up with text links, not image links, then it should say 'Solve' or 'Unsolve' (Or something similar) instead of the image in the display.php

But it installed just fine in my highly modded, and hacked, 1.5.4 board.

EDIT: I believe I have the update code to allow it to work with both Image links and text links, if you want it, to add straight into the mod.

I agree, this would be just the thing I need for my board if I could set it only for certain cats.
