Converter for XMB --> YABB SE?

I have searched the forum and found nothing on this topic. Is there a converter out there that will convert from XMB 1.6 to YABB SE? I really hate the lack of some features with XMB and I'm anxious to transfer, but I need a converter first.

Thanks for any help I can get. I'm a computer-savvy person, but for some reason this forum stuff boggles my mind right now, so any help is appreciated.

I really want to move off XMB and don't have the money for vB, so if someone can please help me out with either a tip on where to get a converter, or how to easily make one, I'd appreciate it.

I'm familiar with HTML coding and I've implemented Javascript before (but not written it) and I'm not really familiar with XML programming yet, so that will give you an idea of my capabilities. Perhaps if there is another converter (or a converter template) that I can modify or whatever, that would be great.

Count me in with Kaiser.  I have no idea how to convert from XMB to YaBBSE, but I'd like to.

Hating to reply to myself, but I managed to copy over all the users from my old board to my new (yay!) YabbSE board. (XMB is a HOG).  FWIW, I did it all by hand and cracked open both SQL files to just copy/paste the fields needed over into the new DB.  Posts were harder, but the easiest way to do that is to log in as an admin and post all the posts.  Then go into the SQL DB and change the poster name, ID and date by hand.  It takes a while, but you can do it.

The passwords (being encrypted) didn't copy over, so I've been talking to the users on the soon to be deleted board and explained they'll need to fill out the lost password form, which will reset them to something random.  I tested it out a couple times, and found that if you leave the password field blank, people can not log in, but they can request passwords

that is all you have to do with any conversion.  If you would tell us what you changed with the SQL files, a converter can be made almost instantaneously.

We converted from XMB 2 YaBBSE on FusionPHP as well, however we decided to edit YaBB into using MD5 encryption, so that are users didn't need to change passes etc. You'd might wanna consider that...

I'm not sure this is mod material, since converting to MD5 kinda screws with future updates compatibility.....

Well, MD5 encryption of passwords will most likely be supported in YaBB SE 2

We'd might release something when YaBBSE 2 is out then! No point in doing it now!

It will still be a while before YaBB SE 2 will be out...

actually.. there is only 1 file that will ever view a password.  So if you wanted to change the encryption method, there is no harm in that. You won't have to worry about future upgrades or anything because YSE 2 is the only one :-P

Often the easiest thing todo is just import all the members and then use the forgotten password function in the convertor.  Thus sending an e-mail to each member with their new password.
