question about the future

@developers
the actual YaBBSE is based on YaBB 1 Gold, and transported to PHP, i think (of course with some changes).
what when YaBB 2 will be released, will you transport it, too, or will you stay on your way with YaBBSE?

No, they won't transport it because YaBB SE 2 is a standalone project. YaBB 2 uses Perl + MySQL, YaBB SE 2 uses PHP + MySQL (I hope that I don't mix anything).

Both boards will be great pieces of software - really great ! -, but there won't be a conversion.

YaBB SE 2 still rulez - hehe

They are not switching back, there is 2 different versions of YaBB, a perl version and a php version. There is a YaBB development team making the YaBB2 which will be perl, and there is a YaBBSE development team making YaBBSE2 which will be php.

Duh... YaBB 2 is not the next major release of YaBB SE, it's the next major release of YaBB 1 Gold... got it.

So what's the future of SE after 1.41? Integrating YaPP into it? I'm really loving v.5 of YaPP, can't wait to see what else you're adding to it. :)

We might add a few 1.4.1 fixes to YaPP but that isn't our prime concern right now. We are rebuilding the YaPP admin center, and adding a few features. Hopefully the server will be back up soon though.

PS:  YSE2 is a complete rewrite of yabb se.  Everything is being rescripted.

hmm.... I guess it is "re"scripted because you are adding same things but a different way.

Just to clarify though, there shouldn't be any original source (I think everything is Object Oriented now)

I think I saw a pic of YaBBSE2 in the chitchat board, did I just read wrong or was it really a pic of the new version?

It was a pic of a pseudo new version - the new version will look and feel very much like that, although we are still working on the code.  So no, it's not really that far.
