Ok, I am new to this forum so I am sorry If I mention something that has already been suggested and / or already done ( if it is done please tell me where may find it thanks ).  Ok, first of all:

1.  Biography for your profile.  Just a text box to put in a little bit about yourself and Interests.  I like those things and I think it would be a good addition.

2.  Admins have the power to choose what Mods can do in the forum the moderate ( not global mods ).  A friend had a prob with someone adding stuff to posts etc. and he suggested it so I thouht I'd post it here.

3.  Subject Desription under Subject box.  Just to let people know a bit more about the post.


Ok, thats my suggestions.  Like I said, sorry if any are old ideas and have been done.  thanks for your time.

I'm getting really pissed off by people continually saying "Wait for YaBB SE 2". People have these problems now and these problems need to be solved now not if/when v.2 comes out!

problem solving isnt that easy to do
he's asking for the custom mod powers (admin select what mods can do), that will require a lot of code changes IMO

Well, I probably could write such a mod if i could be bothered, however, I don't have that problem, and I'm not feeling too philanthropic at the moment. However, I'm sure there are other people getting equally annoyed by the "wait until YaBB 2" attitude, and that don't have the time or the skill to make their own mods.

I think everyone @ this forum are volunteers. Keep that in mind. Most of the people goes to school (so he/she has homework, or something like that) or has a family etc.

Have you ever written a mod?  Until you have written a mod or done something else, create imnage sets, provide support, write documentation, I don't feel you can really tell us that we have to do more work.  We all, including the devs, make no money from this but rather do it because we enjoy it and want to see the best PHP MySQL forum succeed.  I agree it is frustrating when we tell you to wait for a new version but it is normally the truth.  Feel free to post it as a mod idea though.

It actually is rumered to be fairly close.  The devs have done a lot of work on it.

Actually, yes, I have.

For my board, I re-did most of the buttons, fixed a security vulnerability with the IM system, added individual user stars, made new IM indicators, and my own announcement boards. I also wrote a complete board-integrated protected file area. All of my mods were written completely by myself with no external assistance, and most if not all pre-date the "official" mods for those functions. Also, the request to a mod-writer here for a custom-stars mod came from a member of the board that I run who wanted the same for their board.

I also provide assistance to those requiring it on the "PHP Scripting" board here.

You have also obviously mistaken me - I never said, nor implied that the SE dev. team should do more work to get SE out quicker, or include all of these mods, I was just suggesting that instead of all these "helpful" people giving the useless "answer" of "wait until v.2 comes out" that someone should actually set about fixing the problem now! There are always going to be people that for one reason or another are not going to be willing to move to software with so many modifications because of security fears, and so are going to (rightly) stick with the current software until SE 2 is tried and has proved itself. It's these people that no doubt make up a large proportion of SE installation administrators, and they are the ones that want mods for the current software.

It's also somewhat irritating that you are saying that YaBB SE is "the best PHP MySQL forum" when you have no evidence supporting your argument, and in fact, I think there's evidence against it (at least the current version. SE 2, if the rumours are correct, may make its way at least to "the best free PHP MySQL forum")

Ok, I went and installed the Bio-mod with BoardMod but I appear to have mucked up some where along the line and now I get errors when I try to access my ( or others ) profiles.  

The errors are:

Parse error: parse error in /WebSites/admin/bkj.gametribe.net/forums/Sources/Profile.php on line 741

and:

2: Supplied argument is not a valid MySQL result resource
(/WebSites/admin/bkj.gametribe.net/forums/Sources/Profile.php ln 44)


Is there any way to fix this or just get rid of it withour re-installing YaBB SE?
