[Done 1.4.0] Hide Category Mod

Name: Hide Category Mod
Tested on: YaBBSE 1.4.0
Information: This allows you to hide a category, but still access the boards via a URL. Unlike asigning a cat to a member group and disallowing anyone to view the board, this simply hides it and still allows people to access it.

You can download it at http://www.andynetworkaw.com/hidecat.zip, the zip file includes the .mod file (made with BoardMod 2.5 SE) and db.php to alter the database (alters cat database so it can store if to hide).

I had to apply the mods manually, but I'm getting an 'SQL sytnax error at line 1 near "  ' message when I run php.db.  Any suggestions?

i dont think it will?
but i know there's collapse category mod for YSE 1.5.x
and if u want more board/cat permissions, you can try the Allowed User Mod

Thanks, Spiff... I tried the Allowed User Mod, but for some reason the boards aren't hiding for member groups. Additionally, there isn't yet a "Everyone (Hide)" option, though Sauron says there'll be one in the next version.

Anyhow, this mod better suited what I need anyhow. What I want to do is create a category or board into which ALL calendar entries go. This board is "hidden" on the main index, but accessible by anyone. My members don't like the calendar entries appearing as "discussion topics".

This way for people to see info on a calendar entry, they just click on that entry.

Someone PLEASE PLEASE update this mod!!!

FYI, I've emailed "ShadowKnight", but haven't heard back. The message didn't bounce, but I noticed he hasn't been active here since last September.

Would anyone happen to have a test board they can try this on? I would try it, but it changes the MYSQL database, and I don't want to screw mine up or mess with my host in trying to get it restored (it's kept on a seperate server from my site).

Looking at the code, it seems it would be pretty cut and dry. But a lot has changed since version 1.4, so I'm pretty sure it wouldn't work with 1.5.4

i could use a hidden cats, a mod of it, so in the users profile, they are allowed to see which ones they want, (with permissions of corse) so they couldnt see private cats unless they have access to it.
