Replying to long thread woos

We several threads with hundreds of replies... usually it's no big deal, but the longest one (containing 600+ messages) takes forever to reply to because it displays all the messages in the thread below the input form.

Is there anyway to limit this to only display, say, the last 10? Or is there an admin option that will turn this feature off that I've missed?

In that case I would find it useful, if the user himself can disable this topic summary in his own user control profile.

Look in installed mods and settings, theres an option to only display the last x threads in the topic summary

That is correct: Installed Mods and Settings - Topic Summary Posts sets this.
