That is not the bug, You have faced the incompatibility problem with other mod.. If you want to see this mod fully work please see

http://www.wootlands.com/

He has many categories and boards.. I have tested.. it works very fine... please check the previous thread.. or would like to know if you get any SQL warning?

I'm still having problems with it - only one category folds. I don't have any mods loaded.

I think the problem might be that I am using YaBB SE 1.31 instead of 1.30. Could this be the problem? If so, what should I do with the Load 1.31 file?

If you don't have any other mod load, why don't you upgrade your forum to v 1.3.1. it is very easy just replace the file... undo my mod first and overwrite the forum with new 1.3.1 file.. then apply my mod.

Yes - It does not work in guest mode, but it also does not allow me to login as adiministrator (or any other member). I get the message:

2: Supplied argument is not a valid MySQL result resource
(/home2/structur/public_html/prof_bbs/Sources/Load.php ln 142)

I used an unmodified version 1.31 of Load.php. I run a public site which I have not applied your mod to. I ran a check on the versions and all three files:  Load, BoardIndex and Register were written for version 1.31.

If I recall, there was a problem with the 1.31 upgrade and the Load.PhP file. Mach8 posted the following update (the page is no longer working and I think his Load.php was included in the bug fix on the download page):

If you mean the "1.3.1" version files, there was a bug fix pack released not long after 1.3.0. You can get it here.

Have you checked compatibility of your mod with this file?
You also brought up a question: Why is it incompatible in Guest mode and what will it take to make it compatible?

Quote2: Supplied argument is not a valid MySQL result resource
(/home2/structur/public_html/prof_bbs/Sources/Load.php ln 142)

This error is happened because of modifiying the $result received from mysql_query to something else. and PHP tries to fetch from the non-SQL-result. Could you show me what is on the line  138-143. This mod has only 3 steps  ::) and one step is in Load.php another one is in Register.php and the last one is in BoardIndex.php..  It is not easy to raise an incompatibility issue.

QuoteYou also brought up a question: Why is it incompatible in Guest mode and what will it take to make it compatible?

Because the catToggle column is kept in yabbse_members. So the guest, who isn't the member shouldn't have the data in there. I may indeed make this collapsable category invisible to the guest user. so he might see it as the old look.

Yes.. but I think that is the JavaScript version.

Quotei've already had a few members on my site ~whine~ about not being able to tell if there's a new post under a category. i try to feel bad for them, but being on a T1, i cant!

I understand this, but you may think this way.. not that I want to do it, but since the category is closed, no more query are sent to MySQL for board under closed category. If you need those new message status, it will increase the load again. This issue has been mentioned by Joseph already in that topic.

Now you get the faster load..

Vory,
Thanks for the fast reply - I hope you realize how much we appreciate the work you have done. We have been hoping for this mod for a long time and you were the first to pick up the pieces and provide this to us. I'm sorry to bring up these problems - especially because it works out to be more than you planned on.

Here are the lines you request (a few before and some after):

Quote/* Load the users settings into the array settings.  This array has
   been kept as close to the settings array in Y1G as possible*/
function LoadUserSettings () {
   global $username,$settings,$password,$action,$realname,$realemail,$yySetCookies,$pwseed,$HTTP_COOKIE_VARS;
   global $cookieusername,$cookiepassword,$pwseed,$ID_MEMBER,$realNames,$db_prefix;

   /* Only load this stuff if the username isn't Guest */
   if($username != 'Guest')
   {
      $request = mysql_query("SELECT passwd,realName,emailAddress,websiteTitle,websiteUrl,signature,posts,memberGroup,ICQ,AIM,YIM,gender,personalText,avatar,dateRegistered,location,birthdate,timeFormat,timeOffset,hideEmail,ID_MEMBER,memberName,MSN,catToggle FROM {$db_prefix}members WHERE memberName='$username' LIMIT 1");
      /* If we found the user... */
      if (mysql_num_rows($request) != 0)
      {
         /* Initialize the settings array */
         $settings = mysql_fetch_row($request);

         /* compare a crypted version of the password in the database
            with the password stored in the cookie.  Yes, the password
            stored in the cookie is doubly encrypted */
         $spass = crypt($settings[0],$pwseed);
         if ($spass != $password && $action != 'logout')
         {
            $username = '';
         }
         else
         {

            // now lets get the additional membergroups
            // this will eventually need to be merged into a single query above
/*            $groups = array ($settings[7]);
            $request = mysql_query("SELECT ID_GROUP FROM {$db_prefix}members_groups WHERE ID_MEMBER=$settings[20]");
            while ($row = mysql_fetch_row($request))
               $groups[]=$row[0];
*/
            $username = $settings[21];
            $realname = isset($settings[1])?$settings[1]:$username;
            $realNames[$username] = $realname;
            $realemail = $settings[2];
            $ID_MEMBER = $settings[20];
         }
      }
      /* Otherwise clear everything */
      else
      {
         $username = '';
      }
   }

This was lines 131 to 177. Hope by sending more, there might be something in there to help you.

I understand now why it doesn't work with Guests and thank you for  the reply. Is there any way to make the mod not dependent on registered users but simply on the number of Catalogs as many of our visitors are not members but are on the site to view the information as research. I don't want to scare away Guests any more than I would registered members.

Is this a major task that can be done instead of making the category choices invisible to guests?

Really

Structuralist, I can't see anything wrong on your code except two new lines code which shouldn't be there..

See the line with $spass=... and
$group[]=...

If it is not the problem, please send your modified Load.php as an attachment to one of my email addresses vflyvfly@hotmail_dot_com

About that guest, problem.. well This can be done by using the log_online table. ok I will see what I can do.

Your Load.php works very fine on my server.
Something is wrong..   I now have no clue why it doesn't work.   :(

Maybe I can go to take a look at your testforum?

Very stupid me.. I set the cookie to expire 1 hour ago :( that's why it doesn't work! .. Now it is working with guest now.. if the user is logged in, the setting will be loaded from database.. otherwise it works with 1-hour cookie.

Get the v0.3 :D
