Customizing YaBB SE

I find myself editing a lot of code when I try to customize YaBB. In the future will it be possible to have more control over how YaBB looks and acts? I love the speed, but customizing only goes so far with the editing of a template file. The colours change, but the board always seems to look the same.

I think adding more customization would certainly increase user value. However, it would probably also decrease speed and increase testing-complexity.

But I think pieces of HTML could still be taken out of the different php files and standardized in a function library. print <<<EOT could for instance be replaced by a function boxtop('title', 'icon');. This way every page is built up from standardized code and changes only have to be made 1 time.

Yeah - we are looking to do that in the future - we want to use more of the YaBB markup language, e.g. <YaBB Copyright> :)

But altering all the code will take time :(
