OK, I'm Not a complete idiot, new to php though. I have the files up on the site, i'm getting the same damn error this guy has. I've been through the entire site here I NEED HELP.  Yes my host runs PHP4 and mysql, yes the yabbse directory exists (made it with mkdir command) just to be certain. I have used http://www.philaclubs.com/yabbse and the default /www/hosts/com/w/webshowhost/ws1.webshowhost.com/docs/yabbse and tried just plain old yabbse. but none of that is working, i just keep getting directory does not exist...... WHAT GIVES,

I've just tried installing yabbse too, and I keep getting the same error as the guys here.  I've tried just using /yabbse , www.mysite.net/yabbse, or http://www.mysite.net but nothing works.  Any ideas?

Thanks, Rob

ok I figured it out...for me at least  ;D  What I did was tried to install it onto the root directory, or /  That didn't work cause it didn't have permissions, but it tried to install the files, and with the error messages it gave me the complete address to where the script was running from, /home/www/username, for me but maybe different for you, so then i use /home/ww/username/yabb and it installed fine...well thats to step for, but thats just me not know mySQL server name.  So I hope that helps someone!

I'm having troubles too. In step 2 it asks for the database name, and it exists as "yabbse". Everything should be ok. I'm using Multimania and the PHP meets the requirements, however when I try to move on to step three i get the following error message:

"Cannot use database yabbse, connection to server succeeded by the way."

Any Ideas?

For you guys with bad paths, it has to be the exact path not URL to the directory.

For the database problem, make SURE you have the correct database name.  Some hosts add a prefix themselves...
