This is a beta convertor from YaPP, should work on all versions to YaBBSE 1.5.1RC1 B38.  You should however be able to convert to YaBBSE 1.4.1 up through the most current version of 1.5.1RC1.  You must first install a clean copy of YaBBSE that you wish to convert into.

There are some very simple settings you must fill in at the beginning of the file.
$db_server = 'localhost'; //Should almost always be localhost
$db_password = '';
$db_username = '';

//YaPP DB Settings
$yapp_prefix = 'yapp_';
$yapp_db = ''; //Name of the database your current YaPP portal is in

//New YaBBSE DB Settings
$yse_prefix = 'yabbse_';
$yse_db = 'yabbse'; //Name of the database for your new YaBBSE 1.5.1 Install

Please let me know how this works for you.

Just what I was looking for.  Thanks David.
I'll install a fresh YaBB SE 1.5.1 on Drumsmith.com.

I just hope we get left alone this time.

Without seeing your settings section I would not know.  Try uploading a blank convertor file and see if you get the same parse erorr.  If not, then it is one of your setting values.

Hi David,

The transfer went ok.  The messages are in the new database.  But YaBB 1.5.1 only sees the total pages.

It does not see the actual messages or who originally posted them.

Any ideas where to look?

Thanks

Link to your board?  I may also need to take a look at your database and/or do a test conversion myself.  You get any errors during the conversion?  You convert into a clean 1.5.1 RC38 board?

Sure, [email protected] .  Make sure you zip it or something so it is not hella big.

Hi David - I posted over on the PFaBB site but thought I should post here in case it helps others that have similar questions...

---------------------

Hi David

I tried the converter on a test site and it was a bit of a nightmare, so I am thinking that I need to get the schedule correct before proceeding...

1. Install YaBB 1.5.1 with same database details (during "install") as current YaPP install

2. use the David's all you can eat YaPP to YaBBSE converter

3. You now can install PFaBB with same database criteria yet again.

Then you have made to move from YaPP to PFaBB correct?

Thanks in advance

Install a copy of YaBBSE 1.5.1 where you want your new forum to be.  So if it is at the same location of your YaPP board then just overwrite the YaPP sources since you really only care about what is in the database.  Do a clean 1.5.1 install.  Then use the convertor to convert into the clean install from your YaPP database.  As far as then upgrading to PfaBB I would assume you follow the normal instructions.  I am also planning to write a YaPP to PfaBB convertor sometime soon.

Excellent!

Thanks for that. I'll back up everything (db and folders just in case) and give it a whirl.

Worst case scenario is I'll keep coming back to this forum to see if/when you put your YaPP - PfaBB converter together :)

I am getting an error on the yapp to yse1.5.1 converter.

I go to mysite.com/yapp-yse151.php and I get this message. "Duplicate entry '1-19-2003' for key 1".

I tried it on a clean 1.5.1 install which worked fine before the conversion attempt. I went back to my board and it seems  to have got the category and board names right along with the number of topic and posts but there are no members or messages and I can't log in.

Any ideas I can try?
