Changed time now my board wont work

Hi.

I am new to all of this, i use to have a boardnation board so i was familiar with most of the admin settings. Anyway the time on my board was wrong, so i went into forum preferences and settings and kept changing the number till it would show the correct time (Australian EST Canberra/Sydney time). Anyway the number which set it to the right time was 0, so i put 0 in and save. Then it showed some errors, i forget what they were coz now all my board shows is a white screen with error messages.

How can this be fixed? I dont want to loose my members coz of this, so how long will it take to fix and can i save those messages, i dont want to loose them all?

I did not install this, my friend did, so if someone can give me a detailed answer i will then show my friend and they will understand. Changing the time is the only thing which i did.

Looks like Settings.php was corrupted.... or gone.

Perhaps you should try.... hmmm...

Might want to reinstall.

Well, i got an error 2 weeks ago when i changed the settings in there, and we had to reinstall. If i can save the messages then i will reinstall if someone tells me how to find the messages, otherwise is there another way, and why dis this error occur. How could it of got corrupt?

Also, how can i be sure this wouldnt happen again? Coz i wont reinstall a 3rd time.

It's your host.... for some reason, it doesn't seem to like YaBB SE over writing Settings.php

However, I got a better idea

Rename Settings_bak.php to Settings.php.

Ok, i am logged into my account im int he yabbse section, i see a settings.php file, but no Settings_bak.php. Would you happen to know what folder it is in.

Then it wasn't able to make a back up...

Try editing the Settings.php file with notepad or something... you might be able to fix it.

The line that says $boarddir should have it equal to "/home/andy/public_html/yabbse"

yes iv found this...

$boarddir = "/home/andy/public_html/yabbse";

i also changed the time offset to 1 ust to see if tht amde a difference sinse thats what started this whole mess. The board stilhas errors though?

Strange...

Means that it's looking for something in the wrong place, as if the Sources dir is not set...

Odd.  Can anyone else help this person?

Like i am not allowed to edit the template, whenever i try it will come up with an error message so im thinking i may install a 3rd time, as much as i dont want to. I need to know though, is there a way all of the messages can be saved and then put back afterwards?

Also can i go down to version 1.4.1 instead with the messages still being there?

I am not tring to be diffcult, but i think these a reasonable questions for a newbie to ask. I have looked through the forum and used the search feature but i cannot seem to find the answers.

That 1.5.1 is suppose to be released today/tomorrow, so i will upgrade then and see if it works, but would still really like to know the answers to my other two questions.
