I have an idea for a mod. In Yabb Se 1.5.0 there is a function when you quote a message who already has a quote, only the message will be quoted and not the quote who was allready in the message.

(still following me? sorry my englisch is realy bad and I'ts very hard for me to discribe what the mod does :P)

In dutch it is called: "activeer geniste citaten"

I would like to have this mod in 1.4.1 ;D

So when someone clicks "Quote" and the message already contains a quote, you want the NEW quote to remove the previous quotes. Right now, when you click "Quote" you may get something like this:

What do you think?
I think you are right.
And instead you want:
I think you are right.
Am I correct?

There's an option to do that in 1.5.0 isn't there?

Why not use 1.5.0 or wait for 1.5.1 then? Surely making this for 1.4.1 is moving backwards? ???

I have 1.4.1 + a bugfix-mod + speedup-mod on a tripod server. There is no need for me to upgrade to 1.5.* because i can't use sessions. But this option (ofcource i tried 1.5, who diddn't) was realy great and i would like to use it on 1.4.1.

Maby there is a way to cut the code out of 1.5 and use this code in 1.4.1  ???

Notably, sessions can be turned off, and/or not used with 1.5...

Ok true true true... you're right. But I compleetle modyfied my forum. All the code of how a page is displayed I change. But I think it is possible that I can put it over on 1.5.1..

But a mod for this would also be fine ;D

Any bugfixes for 1.4.1 have likely been incorporated into 1.5.x, and I know that 1.5.x has used elements of the speedup mod, as well as made other improvements, to increase the overall speed of the board.

In short, it sounds to me like 1.5.x makes your modified 1.4.x board utterly obsolete.. If you scrap the old board and install 1.5.x fresh you could very well be better off than you are now.

Are you people listening? ::) He has 1.4.1, he has modified it, it's not causing him any problems, he's happy with 1.4.1, all he wants is a mod for his 1.4.1 board.

I'll tell you what Bart, since I use 1.4.1 and intend to continue with it I'll write this mod for you. It will probably be awhile since I'm in the middle of a site transfer and writing a portal for my other site.

Listening quite well.. only trying to point out a couple things that might help him to arrive at a solution. It was the best advice I could offer at the time since no one had previously indicated an intention to write the mod.

But if you want to write a mod for 1.4.1, thats great and I'm sure that it will be appreciated.

And I actually use 1.4.1 myself at the moment, but I'll be upgrading when I find the time.

Sorry about the wrist. :( Bet it kinda makes it hard to type. ;) Personally I try to stay away from any sport that has snow involved. ;D

And thanks for the nice words about my site. And yes, it does make me more likely to make the mod. ;D

understood, it's just that I get a little frustated by the rush to upgrade. And it's not just Yabb, way too many software packages upgrade just to upgrade. The result is usually bloated buggy code. Which has to be fixed. Which leads to more bloated buggy code. Which has to be fixed. Which leads to.................

Which, at least in those projects I work on, eventually leads to bugless, or NEARLY bugless code.

I admit you are right, but sometimes it's hard to decide what discretion to use to properly release a new version.  Perhaps you should note some bugs that you think should be taken care of.... if, that is, you think it is ever so buggy.
