Photo Album in the works?

I was wondering if there is a "photo album" mod being worked on?
I'm looking for something like this:
http://craigmon.www2.dotnetplayground.com/megabbs/photos/photo-main.asp

YaBBBSE is a great application, but I would like to incorporate this functionality.

And yes, I'm quite new at all this.

You using the yabbse user DB?  Does the script automatically reduce the size of huge photos?  The reason I ask is that I've been waiting for a long time for photopost to come out for yabbse, but they've refused to do it for a long time.  They said they'd do it on the next release, but who knows how long that'll be?  I'm just curious what kind of features you plan with this.

That is also my concern.  I like the format and speed of YaBB SE, but my users are insisting on integrated image capability.  The only one I've found so far that I would consider is megaBBS, but that uses an Access or MS-SQL database, (I prefer to avoid Microsoft) and is not W3C compliant.

it has thumbnail and everything, support for GD 1, 2 and other software that i cant remember :P
the website seems to be screwed atm, it used to have forums and everything
the gallery looks simple (compared to other big gallery programs), but cool
so far i've hacked:
- change DB to use yse DB
- change date system to use yse dates
- change admin verification to yse
i havent worked on the templates yet, code is still a bit messy, but all are functioning fine (i guess)

i didnt plan to release this as a mod before, but if u guys want to try it out, i can send u the files with instructions on how to integrate it
if a lot of ppl are interested, maybe i'll ask Coppermine if its okay if i release a mod version of it for yse

Sounds interesting to me Spaceman.  I have a huge demand from my users for a decent gallery and mine sucks.  I definately want something that will interface with the yabbse user db.  I would be willing to help test if you want to do something.  I'm sure others would be willing as well.  :)

Image Arcadia.  It blows.  I have never been able to get it working correctly, and I think they went under since their website disappeared about a year ago.

Well, I installed the Coppermine stuff.  Seems to be working pretty well.  The only thing I don't like about it is that you can only have one user!  Yuk.   I'm looking for something that would use the yse db, and allow users to manage their own galleries, but not mess with anyone elses.  I wonder if this is possible with this script.  I'm sure it is, but what kind of time would it take?  It'd be pretty cool to integrate this thing.  It's a simple gallery, but I like it that way.  Don't need anything huge.

Here's my test gallery

I've been meaning to ask this but never got around to it.  I am interested getting some type of photo gallery going also but I have not been able to figure out the image resizing part to get thumbnails.  Everything I have seen requires libs that my host does not have installed.  I either need to find a way that does no require GD or ImageMagick (I doubt that is possible) or find out how to get one of these onto my server when my web host does not have it (I can't compile things).  Does any one know where I can get more info about this?  Is it possible?

i dont know much about GD and ImageMagick since i havent touched graphic scripting part of php...
i dont think php can resize an image with its built in library... http://www.php.net/manual/en/ref.image.php
PHP.net notes: "Since PHP 4.3 there is a bundled version of the GD lib. This bundled version has some additional features like alpha blending and should be used in preference to the external library since it's codebase is better maintained and more stable."

installing GD tutorial
GD doesnt support gif, i think imagemagick does
i'll try to setup a test forum so u guys can check and test the gallery

other gallery scripts:

I checked out those sites (again) and I think I am hosed.  I don't have the shell access needed to install or compile these things.  All I can do is ftp... damn that sucks!

Check out Gallery. I think they use something called NetPBM to resize their images. You can download the binary from Gallery. The complete package is located here: http://sourceforge.net/projects/netpbm/.
From what I've seen you can upload this and you don't need anything like imagemagik or GD. I don't know much...but I know how to read...completely understanding is another thing. :P
But check it out. ;)
