Post a calendar event without starting a new thread

I wonder if there would be a possibilty to post an event in the calendar without having to start a new thread all the time. For example if there are important dates for the community or some dates we would like to add, we always have to start a new thread. That means that there are extremely many threads for each event.
Can someone tell me how to post an event without starting a new thread?

well shoot... I am in the middle of doing a mod right now but if when I get done with that noone has stepped up on this one... I'll give it a go.

Oh... I almost forgot my one condition... you gotta go and try out my other calendar mod that forces the event to be posted in the default board.

Well, you don't have to start a new thread to post an event. As it ships, you do have to always have a message linked to an event though. If you look at the bottom of messages, there is a "Link to Calendar" button. Hit that and you can add an event to the calendar that will use that message. If, like you mentioned, you have a bunch of items on the calendar all related to the same event, use the Link to Calendar, and you'll have them all pointing to the relevant event.

I don't want to speak for the other four but I don't think that is what they wanted.  That is certainly not what I though they wanted when I made the mod they requested.  I am sure they will correct me if I am wrong, but I think they wanted to be able to "post event" from the calendar, have it show up in the calendar but not create a new topic.  This is not possible with YaBB SE as it ships... but now it is with my mod.  My mod allows you to create a non-linked entry into the calendar (much like the holidays) but you can still edit the event just the same.  No new topic.

But it is nice to know that you can link an already posted topic to a calendar event.

english.lng
We're going to look for:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

$txt['calendar1']  =

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
String found, I will now add before it:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

$txt['calforceboard1'] = "Force Post into Default Board";
$txt['calnoboard1'] = "Post No Topic";

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
An Error Has Occurred!

2: Unable to create 'english.lng~': Permission denied

Any permission errors you get are likely due to the permissions setting for your folders.  Since the server is running the install scripts, it must has access to write files.  If it does not then it can't create the backup file (english.lng~) that it is trying to make.  I would suggest that you double check that you have given all the proper permissions as they are described in your YabbSE Installation instructions.
