Not happy

I am wondering if I have made the right choice with going for YaBB SE 1.4.  Had few problems with the initial install, but I had to go back to the 1.3 board index (BTW - when IS the new boardindex coming out?), then a few other problems AND a registration agreement which just won't save.
Those, while frustrating, are not as off-putting as the board at YaBB.info - this is one slow board and none of the graphics show up for me.
If this board isn't working properly, how am I, a relative newbie to php, ever expected to sort the package out?

yeah, yabb.info's forum loads super quick, even on a 56k. Compare it to yabbforum or any other perl board and you'll see the difference. In fact the current yabb is as fast (as I can tell) as any other php forums.
The problem is obviously on your end, as I've yet to experience a problem like you've noted.  ;)

Ok... I use a 56k modem, am located in New Zealand AND it takes between 30 secs (fastest time I have experienced in the last two weeks) and 70 secs (slowest) to load a page of this forum.

My own site is hosted in the US, and is very quick.  Mind you, there is nothing on it except admin posts and no traffic other than me  :)

The graphics on this site were showing until last week, when they all disappeared on me.  The only ones that show are the users own - no nav buttons, no "New" buttons, no smilies.
http://www.yabb.info/images/blank.gif shows up placeholders all over the menu.
And, yes, before you ask - I am viewing with graphics enabled and I don't have any problems on any other sites.  Cookies are enabled, as is javascript.

One suggestion is to try to refresh the page and see if the graphics reload.

Just out of interest, since I still had a 300 baud modem on the shelf, I tried connecting with it and was very surprised to see that the page load times never exceeded the 2 minute mark.

Possibly you have done something to your computer lately that has caused your problems with the images.

cheers.........

Question 1: Are you using MSN messenger?
Question 2: Are you using any kind of add-busting software?
Question 3: Are you using any kind of odd proxy-server setup?

No, I have made no changes to software, settings etc on my pc, run no ad busting software, don't use a proxy server, don't have MSN Messenger (or any instant messenger system at all) have hit refresh - BUT still have the same problems  :(

This board *is* marginally faster once I have logged in, but only marginally.
I can go to other YaBB SE boards and get those up quickly, with all graphics.
If I click properties for the missing graphics here they all show as "Not Available".

Darned if I know why others aren't experiencing this!

Well I am quite happy with my board.  :)

However this site simply *is* slow, at least most of the time (and I have a higspeed ADSL connection to the internet).  ;D

Furthermore this thread cannot be viewed with Netscape 4.7. Don't tell me that you hate Netscape...  :P

Same here (56K modem at home and ISDN at work). It was lightning fast when I joined back in January, but seems to crawl more often now! :-\
