"file not owned"

while trying to chmod the attachments file I get the error that "file is not owned" and can't do it.  Does YaBB SE place a file that is causing this or is there a leftover from some other installation hiding on my server some place?

why you want to chmod uploaded files? the owner is the script that uploaded the file!

My understanding is that the folder attachments needs permissions set to 777 in order for users to upload attachments.  It isn't even close to 777 so why can't I change it?

your folder is not 777? well only thing you can do is delete them and create a new one and then (you createt it, so you are the owner) chmod it to 777!

Right, the attachments folder isn't 777.  I'll do as you suggested, seems like I should have thought of such a simple solution.  Thanks.
