I was under the initial impression that the SSI functionality used SSI calls, not php includes, but I understand that is not the case any more. (I can't use SSI and php in the same page, and i'm using php throughout, so I *need* those php calls :)

Besides, apparently my mod displays stuff a little differently to wot ssi.php is gonna do (thanks for the info mr fung!) so it gives you an alternative, which is all i wanted to do.

I had a couple of gakky messages on my own forum as a result of posting here, but i'm over it now. Just gonna see if their ip trace belongs to a non-dynamic system ;)

(edited to be generally more upbeat)

Looks like at least one of my friends from yesterday has come back to say hello in a rather childish manner.

http://www.theguildhouse.net/forum/index.php?board=6;action=display;threadid=105

and

http://www.theguildhouse.net/forum/index.php?board=6;action=display;threadid=109

(all threads moved out of news into the much more appropriate feedback area)

I decided to keep their posts for posterity this time :)

It has however, made me realise what i *thought* was a flaw, is in fact, a very handy feature. In the absence of the announcement mod (it's gonna be in the maintenance release, yes? Or am I gonna have to write one?)

You can set a news category to moderators only, but the mod will show the threads in that category on your latest topics section! So you can totally lock down a topic to the people who should be able to post to it, and still show the contents elsewhere - which is exactly what I've now done with my site. How nifty is that? It rather nobbles my read more feature, and indeed the (comments), but in the absence of the announcement mod, i guess you can't have everything...

Still, I hope he has the balls to use his own email address next time, assuming of course tiscali don't take a dim view of his postings  ;D

Well Jaxom, cheers to you!
I just downloaded your zip file and before I knew what's was happening it worked nicely  :D

Just wondering about one thing: can the script also exclude one or more categories?
That way I can use a few copies of your scripts for specific categories (this is possible now) and one copie for all the rest, so excluding the one's 'alreeady used' to avoid double headlines on my site.

Oh and there was confusion about whether this thread should be in another category, but with my/this post I think Jaxom's mod has degraded from finished to 'mod ideas' ;)

Keep yabbing,
Cheers,
Harry
