Prob with language packs

Ok so everything works great with english.lng but if I try to use finnish.lng or modify english.lng, even a little bit, nothing works.
Also when i try to change settings in mods they never stay so where can I change those settings manually?

1) language files - how do they NOT work?  If you upload it for your board, are you setting it as the default langage in your settings?

2) Mod settings - search around as this has been discussed a lot lately.  Remove the $dolimitone from the UPDATE queries in modSettings.php and it should work fine.

There is no text where should be text. Like it couldnt read the file, though i have chmodded it.
Even those home, help etc buttons disappear when i try to use finnish language pack.

I tried to reinstall, didnt help.
Now all the messages have verdana 22 as font, where could i make it smaller?

This is the error I get.
Failed opening 'finnish.lng' for inclusion (include_path='.:/usr/local/lib/php') in /www/int2000/a/xxxx/html/yabbse/index.php on line 37, though it should find finnish.lng from home/7662/html/yabbse


How could I make a .pl file that would redirect users from my old Y1G forum to the new one?
