Is there already sombody making the following mod :

In YaBB Gold there was a mod that added a button on top of the forum, that showed all the topics that you hadn't read yet.

That was a perfekt mod !

I really would love to have that one, but maybe somebody is already making this one for YaBBSE ?!

What I think would be cool, is if that list only showed topics with new posts that you have already posted in before. I don't necessarily want to be able to see ALL new posts, because I may not be interested in ALL new posts. I'm usually only interested in the ones I've already discovered and replied to, or started myself.

Although, an option to view ALL new posts might be useful for some people.

You can accomplish that by hitting the "search" button... put only a period ( . ) in the search criteria box, and select "search any words"... enter yourself as user, and search for posts in any topic.... then config the time frame you wanna search within.  That'll getcha the results you want.

True, but that is not what I requested.

It would be an nice (extra) feature, but I really would like to have the "old" mod back that I used a lot on my Gold board........

Anybody ?!

Can you give me an example of the old mod, and a link to where i can find it?  I just want to look at the old code, and maybe something can be done about it soon (maybe even integrated into YaBB SE itself, but I will need to talk to Jeff about that one)

I just found out the other day that VB has a nice feature that does this. At least the VB I occasionally pay attention to has one. Its just got a little link in the top right corner for unread topics, and it lists all the topics that have new posts in them. The format looks very similar to the YaBB SE Memberlist -- its very easy to read. I actually found it quite useful.

I'm sure looking forward to this mod being developed.... We miss this feature terribly...  :'(

 8)

Quite a while ago, I played around with boardmaster and it had a great way of displaying messages in a tree... even on the message thread view, while reading messages.... it would indent replies, and indent again when someone replied to a reply....
THAT was a very cool feature, which I was unable to find on any other forum out there...

I just tried to call up http://www.boardmaster.net , the home page for the developer, and it wouldn;t come up, so maybe he folded, I dunno...

However, I do still have that old forum online, if you care to take a look at the fantastic way the message displays work.... even built in collapse and expand....
Very cool...

http://www.artfulspider.com/board/forums.shtml

Take a look and see whatcha think.
... btw, the midi help forum is the one that has enough messages to display the reply tree... expanded or collapsed, it shows who replied to whom, like so..

Welcome to the new....

VBulletin also has an icon:
             _
[V] go to frst unread message

That's a very cool feature for getting to the new stuff fast...

A tree view is most important to me, though... but I'd settle for first unread message, and a sort newest to oldest would be fantastic.

The tree view might be interesting, but what happens if there are so many indented replies that they hit the right edge of the table cell? Does the table keep expanding infinitely, or does the list wrap from the right back to the left, or does the list simply get cut off when it hits the right edge? Any of these solutions seem a bit unpleasant, both visually and functionally.

But really, is there anybody out there who is developing this mod or what ??

My original question was, if there would be an UNREAD topics mod.

If it is in a tree view or not, that doesn't really matter (although the tree view is much nicer)...............

Now, this mod has been ready for a while now, but where can I download it.  I have problems with the "Read All" function.  It just won't work, so the unread topics are getting more and more...... :-\
