Basic overview of yabb structure

Hello,

I'm a newbie loooking for a a few basic pointers on changing the layout of yabb.

Of course I do a lot of my "playing" when I should really be catching up on sleep, so maybe I'm just being stupid here,  ;) but . . .

1) I've noticed that changing the default colors in preferences doesn't always do what I expect. Same thing in the template.  (I don't currently have a template.php)

If my preference for an item is red, in template.htm it's green, and in template.php it's blue, what color will show on my bbs?

Can someone give an overview of what takes precedence (and when) between the preferences, template.html & template.php?

2) Forgive me if I have overlooked the obvious, but is there a listing of yabb variables (menu, time, uname, etc)

3) Where would I need to make changes to edit the layout/content of "Yabb Community Info" section of the main page?

Many thanks,

Tom Brock

Blue, unless you're running a browser that doesn't support CSS, in which case it will be red and your YaBB will probably look like crap. :P

1) CSS Styles if the browser supports them (template.php first - delete it if you don't want to use it - and template.html if template.php isn't there).
2) Forum prefs.

Tom thanks for the wonderful link. I actually spent several hours scanning the various forums, but somehow missed that.

Thanks also Michael!  But what's wrong with a site that would have either a bright blue or a bright red background?  :P

Oh, hehe, I wasn't talking about the colors, I was just suggesting that a browser that couldn't use CSS probably wouldn't like the nested table structures of YaBB, which is why it might look yucky. :)
