HELP! NOW PEOPLE ARE GETTING SPAM EMAILS

hi

since i have converted the SP1 to SE the people on the board are getting SPAM emails, stupid commercial stuff and i get them too now and never have before.

how can i prevent this from happening?

Oh please, now you're fishing.  Welcome to the wonderful world of spam.  If they were on SE or Sp or UBB or anything else, spammers can target them if they'd like...

They can always choose to keep their email private...

sorry, i didn't quite get what you meant.

fact is that people, including me are now getting tons of spam emails with crappy offers since yesterday.
all of them had their emails 'hidden' right from the beginning, but after  i sent an email to all members, notifying them of the new board, i keep getting complaints about their private email boxes being flodded with spam email which they never got before.

i have no idea what to do  really about this.

if you send mail to every one,  i guess  all members adress  was on every mail,  and one of them turned them over

theres no way u can protect yourself from SPAM emails...

except dont use the email addy at all, its all on an intranet seperated from the internet, you only give your family friends that email...

but its still possible for u to get spammed... they'll reverse engineer a mail server and use its user list against you.
