Installer problem. Errors inserting data packages

I am getting the following error upon install:

Errors: You have an error in your SQL syntax near 'in' at line 1

Everything else seems to go ok, but if I go ahead and proceed, I get no index.php so I am assuming this is part of the problem.  Can anyone help me on this?  Thanks.

Also, if I put in my own index.php, I get this.  Any ideas on these issues?

What do you mean you put your own index.php in there?  It has to be the index.php that SE unpacks.

Well, since SE isn't unpacking it, I put my own in there and did some testing.  I'm getting parsing errors all over the place.  The index.php I put in there matches the unpacked version exactly.  There is something definately going wrong with this install, as soon as the installer tries to get through package 70, that's when the error comes up.  I guess I wait until they write some documentation.

What version of PHP and mySQL are you running?

I'm running php 4.1 and MySql 3.23.  It's weird how most of the packages open during the install, then the one package 70 just dies.

is the right one.  This really isn't the major problem right now though.  I can't even get through the installer so I think the two may be related.  On top of that, I am clueless about mysql so I don't even know how to administer it.
