Buddy List?

I only noticed the other day that YABB SE doesn't have any form of buddy lists. I was wondering if this will be in a future version - if not I'm thinking of modding it myself...

I was thinking it would be quite useful to have some kind of advanced buddy list - a bit like trillian - where you can create "groups" and asign certain buddies to a group. So, for example, you could have a group for friends, a group for people you develop with and a group for people you play games with etc etc.

This buddy list would then be very helpful for sending pms to more than one person (have the list next to the IM box). Also I'm toying with the idea of making an advanced calendar mod and you could use a buddy list to set up "private events" only viewable to your buddies.

I was wondering what people thought about this and how to best go about it? If I wanted to add the ability to add people to different groups (which could be defined by the user) how would be the best way to do it (db wise)?

this idea is a real old one.. if you look at the seach box you will see that a lot of members are looking for this mod.

I actually did a search and didn't come up with any result asking for a buddy system

Anyway - I'm not so much saying I want one but more saying is one going to be in the next version and if not could someone give me some opinions on how they would want a buddy system to work. I'd also like to know how people here would go around making such a system (with different groups like I mentioned)
