How to post into the calendar directly (without the post message view)?

I'd like to have a mod that does this, as well. Although I see the value of it, my users find it redundant that they have to make a post for a simple calendar entry. They also don't like calendar entries showing up on the main board as discussion topics.

To date, my search for a fix has been to try and figure out how to hide the designated board for calender entries from everyone. That way people CAN add details to their entries using a familiar interface, but without it showing up on the main board. Unfortunately, the only two mods that can do this have not been updated for 1.5.4 as of yet.

This mod does two things. 1) it adds the option to "Post No Topic" and 2) it allows the admin to choose a board to force all calendar posts into.

Use them together and you force the calendar to post without createing a new topic.

As far as I remember, I updated/tested this mod on 1.5.4 though it does not say so in the thread.  But I just tested it again and it worked for me.

Am I delusional, or is your uninstall mod now included in 1.5.4?? I saw that it is required by all your mods...

To the best of my knowledge the "Uninstall mod" is not included in any YaBB SE release.  If it is... then either nobody told me (not likely) or I forgot (very likely).  But I don't think it is.  You might be delusional.

I think this did it for me, man! You're the bomb!

I had some initial trouble because I ran the test and a segment failed due to the 'Allowed User' mod I had installed (which didn't work, anyhow). I uninstalled it using Boardmod, but then my board THOUGHT I had already installed the calendar mod -- I guess because I had ran the test.  

This apparently had created some files in the "Packages" directory, which caused the mod to kick back errors when I tried to install it anyhow.

Taking a chance, I deleted the suspect files and VIOLA -- I think I've got what I need!!

Thanks for this... I REALLY appreciate it! I STILL would like a "Hide Category" mod (but where everyone has access), but this will take care of some headaches for now. Hiding the category would still allow users to post details about their calendar entry without it showing up on the main board as a discussion topic.

Something to consider for down the road -- unless someone wants to make it for me! I'm not much of a php coder, so I don't think I could do it. But I would think a simple checkbox in the Create/Edit categories or boards section that prevents it from being displayed on the boardindex would do the job. That way you could even make categories or boards that come and go as you wish (like seasonal, etc.).
