YaBB SE Version: 1.5.4
PHP Version: <= 4.1.0
MySQL Version: <= 3.21.x
Server Platform: Unix, Linux, or BSD
Link to Forum: none

Problem Description:
I found this site: www.coolfreepages.com

I've tried installing YabbSE, but I get errors that I can't access the MySQL server. Can someone give it a shot and try to install YabbSE there?
You need to use the Safe Mode version of YabbSE by the way...
*********************************************
The offers they have seem too good too be true. It boasts:

*50MB of webspace
*unlimited bandwidth!
*FTP Access
*Free PHP and MySQL support

Here's what I have to say about coolfreepages.com:
* The FTP connections are very weak! >:(

If it's not possible to install YabbSE on coolfreepages.com, is there any other hosts that you guys recommend that I can install YabbSE on? Thanks.

"When you create your account, you will be asked whether or not you want your MySql database. Please think carefully at this point. If you DO need this feature enabled, please select "YES" on the signup form. In this case your database will be created AUTOMATICALLY, together with your homepage account. All data about it will be sent you with our welcoming e-mail."

That is directly from them, check the FAQ's page.

I've heard that it's not possible, due to all the restrictions they have on PHP.  If you're looking for another host (paid) that work, I can rattle off three of them right now.  LewisMedia, Infodoma and mine.  We're all familiar with YSE, and have NO problems with people running the UPDATED versions of YaBB SE.  We also run YSE on our own sites (I think Infodoma does, as well), and try to stay current with any issues or versions that come up.

Check the Hosting folder for more information.

Are there any free hosts that are available that can support YabbSE?

Well, yes and no. Some people can get it to work with some free hosts, but I don't think you'll find a free host that supports everything you need...at least not well. There are some really, really cheap paid hosts that you may want to look at, the hosting forum is the place to check.

Is there any version of YabbSE that works with this free host site? If so, which one is it?

Sorry to go off topic, but I'm also looking for a free host with PERL support as well.

As far as I know people have got it working fairly well on lycos.co.uk boards...You'll need the safe mode package, and I believe there's some files floating around to make it more lycos compatible.

What files would I need to make YabbSE work on Lycos?
