I hae recently lost several members cause they can't post. Maybe moving to yabb wasn't so smart afterall.... Anyway, I am wondiering if I can salvage myself without moving to new software. Maybe someone here can help. This issue may have already came up, I don't know.

My members claim that they can NOT post in my yabb. They say that they are logged in till they post. As soon as they post it tells them to log in. This loops them logging in forever w/o being able to post. I have changed the name of the cookie and etc, but the problem is still here. Surly I don't have to ask my visitors to do something technical and complicated frequently with there browser to post to my site. I'm sure they wouldn't bother as this has been to big a hassel anyway. Is there a way I can fix whatever this is on my end? Though my users have tried everything and still can't post! Here is a message from one of my members

I was trying to post yesterday and after I login when I change screen I get
popped back into guest status and asked to login again.

This revents me from posting. :(

So i emailed him to try it again (after I changed the cookie name) and he said

Still doesn't work for us stick in the mud anti-Gates Netscape 7.02 users. :(

Logging in bounces you up a page where you are logged in as a user but when you
go back down to the message you are trying to respond to you're back to a Guest.

Vince, in Notepad, create a file with the following information in it:

<?php phpinfo(); ?>

Save it as "phpinfo.php"

(Note the quotes around the P's).  Upload it in ASCII format to your web site and give us the URL, please.

I just created an account and was able to login using Mozilla which should be very similar to Netscape 7. Are these people blocking cookies from your site?

Vince: Its the sessions or something to do with it. I had a user on my board that had this problem too. As a result of another problem with a PHP re-install, I had to comment out the sessions in index.php. Lo and behold, this user was able to log in just fine.

This was a fix for something else, I believe the "subject empty" error or something like that. But it worked for this problem.

What is the best way to remove the session expiration so it NEVER  expires? Is this a good idea? What are the pro and cons?
