I set up my forum with no problems, but I tried to register a new member as a test and I got this message:

2: mail() has been disabled for security reasons
(/home/m/michael/public_html/yabbse/Sources/Subs.php ln 443)

It does register the member though but I would no like htis message coming up when someone registers!

you host has disabled the mail()  function.

If you have an authenticated SMTP server you can use that, look in installed mods settings and options, you can set it there.

If its a paid host you may be best off finding a new one though  :-\

Hmm, I tried that and I got this:

Ran into problems sending Mail. Error: 503 5.3.3 AUTH not available

What is the server name? is this localhost?

That all depends on whether you have an authenticated server from anywhere. If you dont have access to an authenticated smtp server, then you will have to live without the mail feature, or find a new host

yep, in forum preferences and settings, disable Send welcome email to users when you do not have mail password turned on?

Also you will probably want to disable Allow Email Notification?

Since you'll also have to live without the email part of the 'Forgot password?' procedure, I'd encourage your members to fill in their secret questions and answers in their profiles (which will allow them to change their password through the login screen instead of an auto-generated email)!

probably not for the same reasons you host has disabled mail(), spam.

Most webhosts provided authenticated smtp, who is your host, if its a free one then you will be out of luck
