I have been noticing on a board i run (yse v.1.5.2)
That there seems to be many guests from the same i.p. range
on the board a different times of the day.

e.g.
Code Select
Guest (209.240.212.24)
Today at 08:44:40pm
Viewing the main index of Sebastian's Gentlemen's Club.

Guest (209.240.212.6)
Today at 08:44:35pm
Viewing the index page of General Forum.

Guest (209.240.212.236)
Today at 08:44:15pm
Viewing the index page of Bitch n' Gripe.

Today at 08:44:09pm

I this some kind of email exploit app that these scumbags run to get spam mail addresses?

Is there a way to thwart this?

Those are IPs from someone using WebTV.

Most likely WebTV customers don't have static IPs so it could be just one person.

Click on the link I provided in Reply #1 above (the whole reply is a link!), read the thread it leads to and (if it's just a YaBB SE board you're concerned about) make a couple of tiny changes to Display.php.
