But how do I make a forum read only?

Make it an announcement board, and then whenever you post lock that thread.

not a possibilty.

the forum is about an older version of my software and was heavely posted in. I want to keep it available as reference but just so people can't post in it anymore.

There is no real option to make a forum read only???  :o

not even a mod maybe?
or maybe an archive option of some kind...

You can edit Post.php and Display.php to not show/post if the $board is that board's id....

You can just make it an announcement board, then people can't post new posts.  That's what's done here....

it's allready full with posts and I'm not about to go lock 1000+ threads  ;)

I guess I'll have to go dive into the YaBBSE code :)
