For people who do not have Linux and have trouble with the CR-LF line end.

Download Winedt at http://www.winedt.com/ it will keep the line endings and you should not get any errors after you upload the englinsh.lng

Well.... CRLF's are the windows way.

As long as you transfer it with a decent FTP client, (SmartFTP, for example) it will be fine.

Yep but when people download it to windows, change it, then save it and upload it, windows adds its line endings. With this program it will keeps whats there, or you can choose either CR-LF, LF or any combination.

I just saw a few posts about it so I thought it might help some people out.

What I was trying to say is that a good FTP client will convert the line endings for you.

a bit off topic: i think it will be a good idea to move the default personal text to modSettings[] (settings table)
would be easier to update it

MMMM I did not know that a good ftp client would do this. I use either WS_ftp or cute FTP version 2.

Both CuteFTP and WS_FTP should convert between CR-LF and just LF without any problems, assuming that you do upload the files in ASCII mode (not Binary).

I'm using CuteFTP myself...
