Undefined variable errors

Hello. I am currently running Yabb SP1.2 and am trying to upgrade my site to YabbSE. I have PHP and MySQL installed and they seem to be running preoperly. I am able to run the YabbSE install.php and get my new site setup and working. Now I run into a problem when trying to convert my existing site to the SE site. I have copied the converter.php file to my new forum directory. When I run it from my browser I get the following:

Notice: Undefined variable: step in y:\webs\sumthin4nuthin.com\test\converter.php on line 34

This program will convert an existing Y1G board into an existing Yabb SE install.
You must meet the following requirements to continue:

You must have YaBB SE installed. If it is not click here.
You must have YaBB SE installed with the same database prefix as you intend to convert to. i.e. if you are converting and intend to use the prefix yabbse2_ you must have, at some point, set up a YaBB SE install using that prefix. Otherwise, this converter will be trying to insert data into tables that don't exist.
You must have not have the encrypt passwords mod installed. If you must notify your users they will have to use the 'forgot password' function to reset their passwords. YaBB SE password encryption is incompatible with the encrypt password mod. Be prepared to change your passwords

Note: On Windows-based hosts, usernames are case-insensitive. This may result in some posts being mislabeled as 'Guest' postings when in reality, a user simply posted while logged in with a different case (i.e. alexandra as opposed to Alexandra) for more details on this, and ways to get around the problem, please visit the YaBB SE Community.

I have checked on these forums for a step by step of what to look for and haven't had much success. I did find a few posts that mentioned items in the php.ini that needed to be setup a certain way and I check my file and am seeing those are setup as specified. At this point I am at a loss. I am new to PHP and do not have the know how to troubleshoot any further. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Or if someone who has successfully completed this task is willing to share a copy of their php.ini file so I can compare it to mine that may help. my e-mail is [email protected]. Thanks!  :)

this is only do to error_reporting being set to E_ALL instead of E_ALL ^ E_NOTICE.

You can ignore the errors.

I got the error fixed finally. Found the problem in my php.ini file but now I get a bunch of errors during conversion. I go through each page and they all complete successfully until I get to the final conversion page. There I get several errors and when I goto my board I see this error on the screen.

2: Compilation failed: nothing to repeat at offset 6

Anyone have any ideas why it cannot convert my settings and template and it gives me this error when I goto the board? Thanks!
