I have a forum, using the newest, 1.5 version. When I banned a user using AOL, several other members using AOL also get banned. I checked the IP's and they are very close at times. Is there anything that can be done to fix this problem?

Don't ban by IP... AOL and other dialup servers give out a different IP everytime you dial out. So the IP you banned for one user may now be in use by another. Best bet is to ban by username or email.

What if they create new accounts under different usernames and e-mails?

Unfortunately that sometimes happens.

you can do 2 things -

1) report them to AOL under one of the AOL email addresses they are using (make sure you have password sent by email set in admin)

2) Prey they switch to broadband(DSL) and ban them by IP.

Then I guess I'll have to convince the head admin of my forum to switch to sending out passwords via e-mail. That seems to be a good way to increase security, somewhat.
