Problem with SymLinks? Install prob - Step 2

I'm getting the "Directory does not exist yet, please create it first" problem. I know the full path is correct, and permissions are set to 777. Even chowned the dir to the webserver account. Still no dice. At first I thought this was a  symbolic link problem, but I just tried moving it to a normal dir (apache's documentRoot) /var/www/html/yabbse and chmod 777, etc etc.. same result.

Running RH 7.0, Apache 1.3, PHP 4.05. Register globals in on... I control the entire server. php.ini is fairly "loose" so most apps usually snap right in.

I'll prolly just go to 1.4 but I wanted to give an informed problem report.

Still if anyone does has any ideas, I'd like to hear them. Thanks...

Fixed the problem. I upgraded PHP from 4.0.5 to 4.3.0 and it solved the problem.

BTW, I was also having problems with 1.4.1 "(step 0) click continue and does nothing" problem which was also fixed by PHP 4.3.0. It seems the installer dosen't like PHP 4.0.5, eventhough it says 4.0.4 is good enough.

Soo... to all those within range of my voice... hear me!! UPGRADE to PHP 4.3.0 and save yourself a bunch of trouble.
