title tags on discussion pages

when we first installed YaBBSE and were testing - each time we made a new post - the title tag on the page was the title of the posting. When we customised the template and installed new title and meta tags - the tags then became the same on all the pages. Obvious, I know!

Why was it that before, that the title of the page was the title of the posting - but now its not. (in otherwords what did we incorrectly change on the template)

We want the title on all postings pages to be the same as the title of the postings - but the meta tags all to be as we specified. Hope someone can point me the right direction.

I have Enable Custom Titles in admin.

Thought it was worth pointing out that 'Enable Custom Titles' has nothing to do with page titles... this is so you can give custom titles ('Llama God', 'Disciple of Joe' etc.) to *people*!
