From 1.3 to 1.5.x

I am patiently waiting for the 1.5.1 bugfix before I move over from version 1.3.1 which is the one I currently have.  There are two important questions which are basically the same:

1. Can I just dump the 1.3 database into 1.5 as is and expect it to work?

2. Can I just dump the 1.3 template into 1.5 as is and expect it to work?

The reason for this is that I am moving to a new web host and the 1.5 installation will happen in the new host.  The existing board in the old host won't be upgraded at all, just move the stuff already there to the new board.

Theres a few upgrade scripts you will have to run to make changes to the DB but the template should be fine

Ok I have another question.  I have dumped the entire board database for my existing board into a SQL file which I then uploaded to my web space in my new host.

Now, how do I get back the database in the new host from this file?  The new host has Cpanel and PHPMyAdmin, both allow my to upload a SQL file from my system and execute it.  But they don't allow doing the same with a file already located in the web server.  The file is almost 5 MB in size and I used the high-speed Internet connection at work to do this transfer.  I don't want to spend an hour waiting for the upload to finish through my dial-up connection.

I need a way to extract this file, either through a shell command or a simple PHP script that I could modify to do this job.  Please note that I know very little about PHP and MySQL.

There are plenty of backup/restore posts around here. If you're host is nice, they will usually do it for you as well.

$ mysql DATABASENAME -U USERNAME -P[PASSWORD] < path/to/databasefile.sql

Ok, so I dumped my 1.3.1 board database into a 1.5 installation and told the 1.5 board to use that database.  Didn't wotk.

So I went and copied the two extra tables for the calendars, and it didn't fix the problem.

Then I cannot just dump the 1.3 database into 1.5 and expect it to work.

Are there any scripts that will update the database to whatever 1.5 expects to see?

I want to do the transition to 1.5 as smoothly as possible, by having the existing 1.3.1 board live to the last minute.  That way I can install, test and tweak the new 1.5 board without live content.  When tweaking is done, then the database would be transferred/converted and then 1.3.1 will be turned off to give way to 1.5.  This will be happening across web hosts, during a relocation.

There's a file in the upgrade zip entitled "upgrade13to14.php".  Run that, then upgrade.php.

By run, I mean do this:
