SMTP Authentication

Although currently my server uses an open (unpassworded) smtp relay, I would like to lock it down to stop the current influx of spam through it.

I attempted to change the send mail function to one using the SMTP class I found, but it did not work.  (it acted like it sent fine, but the smtp server didn't ever receive anything...)

In simple words, what I'm asking for is for either some help with, or someone to make, a mod that allows a username and password to be used with the smtp features of YaBBSE, thus allowing it to send on secure servers.

Hi, look for the SMTP mod by Chris Cromer.   It should do what you want.

Hmmm, that's odd... I searched for it, but it didn't show..?  I managed to find it, but I think the search function (of YaBBSE) is a bit messy.
