Wondering if someone might have time to pull this one off:
It would be really cool if there was a Quicktime mod that would allow users, moderators or admins to post quicktime streaming and progressive files to the forum. The file would embed in the post and have a 'Click To Play' button as so it would not start to transfer the file every time someone opened the thread (this is all part of the Quicktime embed code found
here.
So basically the script just allows user to upload files and embed them into the post. That's part one, and I would be happy with that.
If Santa wants to come early, here's part two: In addition to the progressive download file (as listed above) it would be nice to have a streaming option. I have a Quicktime streaming server on the same box. When a guest, moderator or admin uploads a file they could select the 'streaming' checkmark that would upload it to a different directory on the server (as defined by the admin) that would reside in the streaming directory. From here YaBB would be smart enough to create an embed tag that knows the correct streaming path (
rtsp://myserver.com/streamingfile.mp4 for example) and as before it would have a click to play image (as done in the Quicktime embed tags).
Here's the final part... It would be nice to be able to assign permissions, so the admin can allow or disallow groups from uploading streaming or progressive download files. This way a user won't be able to encode a file at 10Mbps and have all their friends start to download it. That would be bad.
Ok final note, before everyone says how much bandwidth and drive space that would take... We have terrabytes of storage and can host over 5000 simultanious 220k streams on our primary network with backup to Akami if needed (I try to avoid that whenever possible since it's expensive). I have the drive room and bandwidth. I just need the code.
I thought about modifying the Windows Media mod, but it's not quite what I want. I may have to though

Is anyone able to make this go? Anyone up to the challenge? To be honest, it will be used with YaPP and YaBB, so hopefully the mod would be compatiable with both.
Thanks for your time all,
-SD
FYI, this would go on the Minnesapolis Final Cut Pro Users Group forum at
