Would be very useful to have the ability to set particular forums as non-editable by anyone other than moderators or admins.

Could be a global as well, but I'd see far more use of this on a forum by forum basis.

How do you mean?  Certian boards are read only?  or only certian groups can edit posts within any group?

Meaning that while anyone can post (subject to guest restrictions, member groups, etc) only Global/Local Moderators, or Admins would have the ability to edit a posting.

This would be useful in a forum such as a development or voting area, where a valid history of detail needs to be kept, without the users being able to edit prior posted material.

Along these lines - if a user cannot edit, they should also be unable to delete.

It happens. I have no problem with extraneous posts in that instance. This is also why I think it should be a flag on each board, instead of a global flag.
