Could someone please look at www.htforum.nl and see what's going wrong. I did everything with the optimizing of the DB and the boardindex speedup but it stays slow on the index.

okay your server response a little bit slow!
but with so many categories i think its okay!

have you enabled cache and compression?

Yes enables cache and Compression.

Sometimes the board is lightning fast but when logging in 20-30 minutes later the board is slowing down to a response of 2-3 minutes for the index.

Our provider has put the board on the fastest server, and we are thinking about our own server, but I have to be sure it's a server related problem.

open up your template.php

at the top see if you have <yabb msn>

if so try removing it and then see if the board runs faster...

Looked for that allready and no MSN Tag found.

I do think it's the server because it's with waves, for example this afternoon the loading of index took me 3 miniutes, while surfing the board was faster it was also slower, 20 minutes before everything was lighting fast.

Correct, sometimes it's lightning sometimes it takes 2-3 minutes for the index to load.

What I want to know is this a Yabb problem or server related.

It´s first of all related to the server and second to the numbers of categories and boards.

but a better server will speed up the board noticable!

Thank you, we will be trying that soon.
The boards are indeed alot, but it runs most of the time very quick so I was also thinking about the server.

Before we had half the boards and the same problem.

Since you've implemented the speedup boardindex mod, the number of boards and categories should hardly influence speed anymore.

What strikes me is the seemingly random loadtimes. It doesn't matter what kind of page, but sometimes a page just takes longer. Personally I have good experiences with your host (Mevers). Even 80 users online at a time were handled correctly by this host.

But still it must somehow be the server, either the webserver or the MySQL server.

I also have VERY good experience with Mevers, and we will be hosting our own server there soon (I hope), they are also puzzled, so I thought let's post it here.
