I'm considering upgrading my YaBB Gold 1 to the SE, but i have a few questions. Can you have the mian links like home, admin, register e.t.c text links instead of images like gold?

can you edit the templets just like Gold....and i guess basically is everything that was in GOld in SE?

Hi, glad you are thinking of switching.  ;)  You can do both of those things since SE was built on Gold.  They have however added many features not included in SP1.
