Mods or PHP Gurus - What files between versions can be switched?

For instance, can 1.41 Boardindex.php be used in version 1.31?

My boardindex is slow as crap.  I have version 1.31, and it is so heavily modified it isn't worth me upgrading to 1.41.  

So can I use 1.41's Boardindex.php, Register.php, Reminder.php, actually anything in 1.41 with 1.31 without probs?

I ask this because I remember when 1.4 came out and the boardindex was slow, everyone was told to use 1.3's boardindex.

Nope 1.4's board index doesn't work with 1.3.

What about the reminder.php and register.php?  I guess I could just try them out, but if you know the answer it is much easier  Thanks.

Reminder should(key word here is should ) As for Register I beleive it should also(again I emphasize should ).
