OK guys, there is a lot more to getting compression working than I thought.  It's a lot more than just making sure that gzip/deflate is in your phpinfo.  I had to install the gzip module using apxs before mine would work correctly, but now it seems to be doing great, and I changed my log files to show the percentage of compression I'm getting with each click.  

I had a hard time with my conf file at first because it was making images disappear and things like that, but once you get the conf file right, it seems to help TREMENDOUSLY.  

Take a look and let me know what you think of the board speed.

Very nice! Do you have any numbers to suggest what you're saving on so far?

For images, it's averaging about 10% so I don't know if doing images is going to be worth the processor usage in the long run, BUT the text such as message views, and boardindex are about 70-80% compression.  Seems much faster to me when i test it with dialup (can't do that for long) and should save some bandwidth cost  Below is an example of what I'm generally seeing in my logs
